Craig's Review of SIG SAUER Kilo2000 7x25mm Laser Range Finding Monocular
I purchased a Nikon Monarch 3000 stabilized recently and was disappointed with it's performance. I exchanged it for a Sig Kilo 2000 and am satisfied. The Sig can pretty reliably range grassy hillsides to 1,100 yds or so and thick trees a bit farther than that. I was able to get some greater than 2,000 yd returns on reflective targets like 5th wheel campers but it is very hard to hold steady for that sort of range. I tested with a Leica 1600B and got the same distances so I am happy with it's accuracy along with it's distance capabilities. It is also much quicker to return a distance than the 1600B and about the same as the Monarch 3000 stabalized. The rangefinder is actually a little smaller than ideal. It can be hard to hold it and hit the range button without shaking it around. A larger size for man hands would be nice. The image quality/glass isn't great. It is good enough, and probably determined by price point, but it is noticeable when switching back and forth with even inexpensive binoculars. With all that being said, I don't know of another range finder with similar performance for a similar price at this time. I would choose this rangefinder again.
Pros:
Accurate
fast
long range
Cons:
image quality
Ergonomics
Best Used for:
Rangefinding
