Sending them back - SIG SAUER ZULU6 HDX OIS 12x42mm Schmidt-Pechan Prism Binocular

Facce's Review of SIG SAUER ZULU6 HDX OIS 12x42mm Schmidt-Pechan Prism Binocular
I received my SigSauer Zulu 6 binoculars and it appeared that they had been previously used. Maybe. There was an extra foil label on the box covering one that had previously been cut. On the inside there was a label that said to remove a red disc under the battery door prior to first use, and that had already been removed and wasn't in the box.
In bright light, there is a bad reflection on the lower part of the lenses that won't go away unless you get your eye elevated high on the exit pupil. When you do that, you are too far off center for a clear picture. It's extremely annoying without the stabilization on, and gets much worse when the stabilization is turned on, and the binoculars are scanned up. Scanning up could wash out over 50% of the image. It went away when scanning down. Makes me wonder if the prism isn’t aligned quite right. The aberration at the edges seems large and they only looked great staring straight ahead, anything off center did not. Comparing these to a set of $500 Zeiss binoculars the excess reflected light is much greater. With the Zeiss binoculars I could hold them steady and scan the picture with my eyes, with the Zulu6, I had to move the entire binocular. At night they were great. The stabilization is outstanding. Maybe I got a bad pair, but these are going back. For the money, I expected better.
