IR Unit seems to be nothing more than a cheap flashlight! Red illuminator is easily seen from 40 yards out. Night vision binoculars are ok- what really can you expect from a gen 1 product. Save some money and upgrade to gen 2or 3 if your serious about night vision equipment. If not, I guess these are ok for novice fun in the back yard.
