Picker's Review of Sightmark Ultra Shot Plus 1x 4-Pattern MOA Reticle Red Dot Sight
I don't need to be Fallujah ready 24/7, but I do want to take advantage of the today's technology at a price point I can afford. This is on my 583 series Mini 14 and works great. It holds zero out to 100 yds. now. Looks good on the Mini, and I would recommend it as a quality optic to check out how these reflex sites work. If you want to upgrade later you'll know what to expect. If you're not running your rifle hard every week or part of a SpecOps group, it'll probably work just fine for you.
For other Mini users considering this optic, here is what has worked for me. I use the issued Picatinny rail, but make sure you put it as far forward as possible. If not the ejected brass will hit it. Not an issue if you have a Ultimak rail. I have only used the Circle/Crosshair reticle and have not changed between them to see if it holds zero. WIll check that next time at the range and update. Also, windage/elevation adjustments are free'flowing, i.e. no clicks. Beneficial more fine tuning.
