Blown Away
Not much for posting reviews unless there is a good reason and this deserves a POST.
Unsure why this hasn't received 5 stars yet because for the bang for your buck you cant go wrong. Purchased for a new build and to test the quaility of the optic and accuracy of the BDC. I was blown away with my first experiance using a fixed 6x power scope and not haveing to waste rounds finding the sweet spot. Sent 3 rounds down range to zero then off to test the BDC. Sight Mark helped me make my mark on this one, I only had steel out to 500 yds and they lined up perfectly and hit every time 100, 200, 300, ...

Your best ACOG alternative!
Excellent product! This is what your AR15 needs! Throw a mini reflex red dot on top and you’re all set from 0-500 yards. Incredible value! Rock solid. Clear view! A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Great optic for the money
This optic is built like a tank and crystal clear. 6x is just enough to reach out to 100 yards easily, and the option to have the red dot mounted up top for close in work makes this optic a dual threat. Incredibly impressed with it's versatility and quality compared to optics that cost 2 and 3 times as much. The QD mounts make for easy on/off and solid lock up on your receiver.

Nice Rugged Optic
The wolfhound is a very nice .556 dedicated optic. If you’re looking for an system that has multiple options I definitely recommend this one. Here in Ohio we can only use .556 for hunting coyote and varmint. That kinda kills the fun of this optic for me, because it really is a great setup. It has a simple to use reticle setup that is designed specifically for 223/556 in 55 grain and 62 grain. It’s simply estimate distance, adjust to that distance for drop, and pull the trigger. Now the other cool thing about this system, and I say system for a reason, I opted for the one with a Mini-Shot mounted on top. I have had my Mini-Shot for about a year now. I have ran it on 4 separate platforms and absolutely love it. So to have one perched up top is just icing on the cake. Sometimes when hunting predators like coyotes or big cat, they get a little too close for comfort, this is where the Mini-Shot gives you that up close open view to stop ‘em dead in their tracks. This thing is a really nice multi purpose optic, it has clear glass, it’s easy to sight in, it also has a red and green illuminated reticle. It’s rugged design and simplistic setup is perfect for your weekend target shooter up to your pro-hunter. My only knock on this optic is simply that it is a little heavier than I expected it to be. But considering it’s designed rugged and for heavy use, I kinda like it that way.
Pros:
- illumianted reticle
- Rugged heavy duty design
- mini shot on top
- designed specifically for .223 55g and 62g bullets
Cons:
- A little on the heavier side
Best Used for:
- Hunting rifles chambered in 225/556

Out of The Box
Out of The box
I received it yesterday and out of the box this thing looks and feels great the quality of the glass looks nice there is a good amount of light transmission the nobs and brightness of the for the reticle is very bright with enough options to find your preferred setting.
Using the stadia lines I was able to accurately range some things that are about man sized in the fields near my house, I used a range finder to check my work.
Attachment
I mounted it to my Ar platform rifle and encountered a problem that would only be specific to someone using a non reciprocating side charging upper from Gibbs arms or X-products the knobs that lock the optic on the rail mount get in the way of the operation of the charging handle. I have contacted Sightmark about this and am waiting on a response, it should be as easy as removing the factory installed base and flipping it so that the knobs are mounted on the ejection port side.
Size and Weight
The sight is a bit bulky compared to other offerings but you're also getting 2x more so the trade off for more magnification. I have included weights of comparable scopes. If you are trying to keep wight low or plan on clearing a city for 12-16 hours a day this might be something to avoid. Chicks dig biceps though so....
The sight is not breaking anything in length it is not longer then any of the LPVOs on the market.

Wolfhound by Sightmark
Works really well. Kind of heavy for what it is. Took 5 rounds to sight it in. I have it on a carbine right now as I am putting together a 20" for it now. I for the price, it should have come with a QD mount.

Great product
The optic was clear and free of any defects. I was able to sight in the scope fairly easy. The reticle was easy to use but I was not able to test out the BDC, however. With RRA 16" LAR-15, I was able to get 1.5MOA. I'm sure I would have shot tighter groups with better ammo and a more stable platform.
Illumination is great for low light. Like the red but really could have done without the green. I don't use it often since I go to the range late mornings. The accessory rail is nice. Allows me to use a RDS for targets < 50yards or for quick acquisitions.
Great alternative for setups that could run $700-$2000 depending what you want. Wish it was lighter. Being 26oz makes it little pain to hold in a standing fire stance. I had to put loctite to keep the nuts from backing out. Wish they had self torquing nuts.
