Most Helpful Positive Review Blast shield
I have a silencer Co asr brake on a 10.5 radian ar pistol . The brake pushed the blast back against the range dividing wall then right back into my face . So I purchased the silencer co brake . It fits securely with no wobble . Took it to the range yesterday all blast went down range , nothing in my...

Most Helpful Negative Review The Blast Shield does nothing.
I tested this device on 12.5”, 5.56x45mm barrel with a SilencerCo three prong flash hider. I stood about 6 feet to the side of the muzzle while my friend fired 3 rounds with no blast shield, and then three rounds with the blast shield attached. There was absolutely no difference. The blast shield d...

ASR NECESSITY!!!

by Long Dong Jimmy JAMZ, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on September 30, 2025
If you already have multiple asr mounts on your rifles. Only have one supressor, you can put this on another mount. Its a very effective blast shield. Doesnt matter which asr mount you have this will divert the largest part of the concussion away from you. Locks up well on Kaw Valley asr mounts as well. 10 out of 10 recommend
Pros:
  • its great if you're already invested in asr mounts.
Cons:
  • Expensive
Best Used for:
  • asr mounts

ASR Blast Shield

by BC, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on November 16, 2024
Purchased the Mossberg Patriot Night Train 308 and it came with the SilencerCO threaded muzzle break. I live in a compliance state so suppressors are banned. This keeps the recoil down and the sound forward as described. Smooth operation and easy to clean.

A Blast Shield for those restricted states

by Longslide, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on December 14, 2023
For those who live the restricted states, a blast shield like this one is the best option if you want to redirect the sounds and blasts away from you and your neighbors. California forbids not only the use of silencers but also flash hiders, therefore making use of blast shields a necessity. ASR pattern offers the riflemen most options in terms of selections of brakes and compensators. It is not as expensive as Surefire but just as effective. Sure, it decreases the effective of muzzle devices, but you will still better off than using a flash hider or a thread protector.
Pros:
  • Great fit
  • Tacti-cool
Cons:
  • Not cheap but you get what you pay for.
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • Ranges

high-end blast shield suitable for large caliber rifles

by E, Verified Owner from NC, United States Written on August 12, 2023
Never really a noticed much of a difference using blast shields, or similar items, but this one seems to work pretty well.

I bought this item as an after-thought since it worked with a Silencerco suppressor mount that I already had. I used it on a dangerous game bolt action rifle chambered for .458 caliber cartridges. This blast shield seems to do a noticeable job in further directing the "blast" forward and away from the shooter. As intended. It's a little quieter for the shooter and possibly others to your left/right, assume no difference or perhaps an increase to sound downrange. Ear and eye protection is still a must. No felt changes to recoil, no braking effects, possible decrease in muzzle flash. It's a little expensive, not sure it's worth the cost on its own - I just bought it because I happened to have the mount...which is required to use this. I like it, and that's all that matters to me.
Pros:
  • Works as advertised
  • very solid
Cons:
  • a little heavy
  • A little expensive
  • must have mount
Best Used for:
  • rifles with significant muzzle blast

ARS Blast Shield

by Al, from GA, United States Written on April 29, 2023
I’ve used my AR just the Silencerco muzzle brake. The rifle was very stable and easy for follow up shots…but I had to be very aware of anyone to the sides. The contusion was very annoying. This Product is very well built. It has a Great finish and look to it. i Ran it with the guys practicing some CQB and everyone around me appreciated it. Price was a bit on the higher end, but worth it.
Pros:
  • control
  • Stability
  • Redirection of muzzle energy
Cons:
  • price
Best Used for:
  • Anyone using an ASR system

works great and looks badass

by John, Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on December 16, 2022
The contours on this blast diverter are really beautiful. I get asked all the time "what is that"? If you're running ASR mount muzzle devices to pair with your silencerco suppressors, this is the perfect addition. Especially shooting short barrel .308, if you want to lose the length of the supppressor and redirect both gas blowback and report, this can't be beat. Plus OP has it at a great price.

Effective but heavy

by BrownSmash, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on October 21, 2022
The blast shield is definitely effective at mitigating pressure felt from the side and is great for a day at the range. Its weight helps to reduce muzzle climb but is impractical for doing maneuvers. Overall, it does what it says and I love the ASR mounts. If I had to add an improve it would be to decrease the diameter slightly, as to not be as bulky.
Pros:
  • effective
  • reduces muzzle climb
Cons:
  • Bulky
  • weight
Best Used for:
  • the range

Love the blast deflector. Works and looks great!
Best price on the internet as well.
However, the Shipping is the absolute worst - took 30 days to get here. Customer service was very responsive but seemed handcuffed by their corp policies.

SilencerCo ASR blast shield

by Jeeplax37, from SC, United States Written on March 16, 2022
Bought this with the ASR muzzle break to see how it worked compared to a dedicated forward blast breaks like the claymore and to be able to put in the break with a flush rail to break and not worry about the blast destroying the rails. The shield was not as effective as a dedicated break but still did a good job at directing the blast forward. The shield locked in securely and kept all muzzle blast directly forward away from the rails enable me to have the longest rails possible on my AR pistol. Highly recommend for a safe way to have flush rails and quick swap for can.
Pros:
  • secure fit
  • Quick connect/disconnect
Cons:
  • None
