Jim Silver's Review of Spec Ops Combat Master Fixed Blade Knife Sheath
This is the 2nd sheath (Combat Master 8") from Spec Ops that I have bought. I would not have bought a 2nd one if the first one was not top notch.
I bought the first one to go camping, hunting and backpacking. I put a Kabar 8" version of the USMC sheath knife in it. A.K.A. "The KABAR" The newer knife's version has a 8" heavier blade with a short serrated section near the hilt. It is an an ideal economy survival knife being less than $100 but still of military grade quality. In the Spec Ops sheath pocket I put a Silva starter compass, G.I. Fire Starter and a diamond (coarse) hone. If I fall on tough times (i.e. some type of emergency) while I am participating in some outdoor activities I enjoy, the knife, with the 3 enclosed items in the sheath pocket would be the minimum of what I would need to help keep me safe. (compass to point the way back home or to some some landmark to assist in that effort, a G.I. Fire starter to start a fire if need be and a diamond hone to resharpen the knife if if had heavy use in some cutting or chopping chore. i.e. As in helping to build a shelter).
I liked the first Spec Ops Combat Master knife sheath, Kabar 8" knife and accessory combination that I bought another set to keep in the "Get Home Bag," in my Jeep.
The quality of construction and features of this sheath are first rate and I do recommend them to others.
