Angel's Review of Specter Gear 2 Point Ambidextrous Tactical Rifle Sling For Remington 870 and 1187

I like GG&G products and I like that Specter included one of their mounts with the sling, but I'd like an option to buy the sling with a better mount. Here is why.

For light shooting, such as one full tube magazine, it does fine with no issues.
If you take a serious shotgun class, or spend a full day shooting buckshot and slugs; your shotgun may come apart.

The cause of the issue is because the GG&G sling mount goes under the mag extension nut. It will take some space on the mag tube extension and may not leave enough thread for the magazine tube extension, and the nut, to hold itself in place after several dozen rounds of 12g pound it loose over time.

Again, for light shooing it's not a big issue. You can check and tighten the mag extension between shoots.
But be careful if you take a serious shotgun class where you shoot at least 50 to 100 rounds or more. The mag extension may screw off while shooting. It happened to me twice already. The first time I thought it was user error but I have since consulted with some knowledgeable professionals who informed me of the thread issue that I mentioned.

The function and position of the sling would have otherwise been perfect. The quick adjust feature only allows it to be loosened quickly, not tightened quickly but that's not an issue for me. Loosening the sling while keeping it around my person is more important for my applications.
Pros:
  • Quick adjust
  • Good sling
  • front mount included
Cons:
  • front mount needs improvement
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • Target shooting
