a combat rifle, especialy a heavy M1A is useless without a good sling, this is the one for you! just took a tactical fighting rifle class with this sling, shot 1500 rounds over 2 days durring class wearing rifle and sling for 8 hours each day. very comfortable and adjusts easily to accomodate for the changing of stances and positions that you may encounter when in battle or hunting in the woods. I am super happy with my purchase and plan on buying several more of these for my various other firearms. Pros: Fits on rifle well! is comfortable to wear for long periods due to wide webbing, cam buc...

Great multi-use sling

by ZekeB, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on August 6, 2018
It does what it is designed for and does it better than the traditional leather M-14 straps and gives a myriad of carry options for hunting or tacti-cool carry. Goes on fast and secure an does not get in the way of the function of the weapon or shouldering, carrying other ways. Good all around product and well priced.
Pros:
  • Secure
  • Goes on easy
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • Tacti-cool

Great sling!

by Super2910, from CA, United States Written on July 10, 2016
This is a great slightly for the money! Works well and is thicker than most giving it a significantly more comfortable feel! The webbing seems to be quite well made. The links/joints are plastic/polymer, but seem to be very high quality and very durable.

great sling

by bendlewood, from MO, United States Written on March 18, 2015
this is my 4th specter gear sling. it fits perfect and works great just like the other 3 slings. it is well made, heavy duty and works well. installation was quick and easy. i alter the butt attachment point a couple inches and use polymer caribiners for a more horizontal carry and for more flexibility in shouldering the weapon. i received the sling quickly from optics planet and would recommend both specter gear and optics planet for your sling needs.

Specter Gear for STG44

by ChrisB, from CA, United States Written on February 9, 2015
I was looking for a tactical sling for my new .22LR, American Tactical Innovations/German Sports Guns/STG 44. ATI/GSG does not have a tactical sling and the only slings I found on other sites like Amazon and EBay was a traditional shoulder carry slings. So I bought this sling from Specter Gear. I knew it was for the M-14/M1A SoCom type rifles. I attached it to my SGT 44 and it works great. I now have a tactical sling for my STG 44. So for all those looking for a tactical sling for their STG 44, look no further. This sling works great. The other good thing with this sling, you do not have to change the traditional look of your WW 2, STG44. No major modifications required.
Best Used for:
  • Use for rifles without sling point attachments

3 point sling socom16

by Gunny North, from IL, United States Written on November 23, 2014
Being a former US Marine take it from me, having a good sling on your rifle is critical! That being said, the Specter 3 point sling is excellent! Once properly adjusted, it distributes the weight of a relatively heavy rifle evenly and allows multiple carrying positions. The only real downside, is that it fastens to the weapon with only hook and loop fasteners. I've learned from personal experience that you want something on your weapon that can't accidentally be released. Outside of that it's an excellent option.

Best M14 Sling

by Dpriest, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on January 21, 2014
This is a great sling. I chose the SOP due to the 1.5 inch sling as oppose to smaller widths. This make the rifle feel a lot lighter. You don't need a lighter rifle, you need a better sling! Included directions are terrible but it was a 5 minute intuitive install.
Pros: Makes the Rifle feel light again
Cons: Included Directions are terrible

Really love this sling! Excellent workrmanship! Best quality! The width of the strap is perfect for comfort! I'm still working out how to most functionally fit it on the rifle for my needs. I highly recommend this sling! It works! Very durable!

Definitely what I needed

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner Written on August 11, 2013
I use this sling on an M1A Socom 16. It definitely fills the void I had for needing a "no frills" tactical sling. Opticsplanet definitely helped me out with acquiring what I needed. Thanks!
Pros: Durability

Specter Gear SOP Sling, M-14 / M1A, Ambidextrous

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on December 17, 2011
I was looking for a modern tactical sling for use with my new M1A. The Specter Gear SOP sling worked very nicely. It did take a little while to figure out exactly how to set the sling up (the directions are generic & use an AR type for illustration). Overall I'm very happy!
Pros: Modern tactical sling for M1A rifle
Cons: Setup took a while

Great Sling

by Legacy Reviewer, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on November 15, 2011
I bought this for my SOCOM after using a similar product for my M16A4 during my tours in Iraq. I was very surprised at how easily it went on and how well it fits. I will be using this mainly for hunting and so far it has been very comfortable with my heavier weapon and has been very easy to transition the weapon to shooting positions.
Pros: Fits well and not overly complicated
Cons: None
