Like every other SportDOG device I've owned this one lives up to its reputation for functionality and quality. I do think it is imperative to read the Operating Guide and the Basic Training Manual to get the most out of this device. Our 18 month old Retriever has responded well to the device. I also believe it is important to ensure that the collar is fitted correctly. Too loose and you will be frustrated with a lack of response from your dog and he/she will be confused by your frustration. Too tight and it will restrict your dogs ability to breathe and will make him uncomfortable. I've found it useful to place a piece of blue painters tape around the collar at the ideal position to ensure it is set consistently with the correct fit.
