I tried this unit for a couple of weeks and decided to return it. The unit's PIR motion detection is terrible. It would not trigger on my 70 lb dog walking up to and by the camera (within 4 ft). I tried walking directly at the unit from a 100 ft away and it doesn't trigger until I am about 10 ft away. Granted, walking directly at the unit is not the easiest for it to detect you. Even walking at a 45 degree angle to the camera, it still wouldn't trigger until I was about 18 ft away. At night, the unit's photo quality is so poor I would have a hard time recognizing myself at 15 ft away. If you get too much closer the IR overpowers the image and you get "white out" and can't see anything.
Also, while Stealth Cam's website indicates that their units with the Triad technology are eligible for a free version of a 3rd party software called Scouting Assistant. As of Sept 2014, the software manufacturer has not been authorized to distribute the software to owners of the E38NG. So no included software to use their advanced features they advertise on their packaging. However, I did try a trial version of Scouting Assistant and found it to very useful.
Cons:
- Poor motion detection
- Poor night images
- No included software

Took pictures in test, then mounted on tree. Has not taken a picture yet. Replaced SD card, formatted....I could have written a better manual. If not working by tomorrow, it will go back to Costco. Don't buy!

Not a bad little camera by any means, I'd recommend it. Camera met my expectations and overall I give it a 4. Couldn't get much easier to use, pictures are good enough for me and the distance at 50ft is ok. I've used cheaper cameras and others around $100 or so and they are not as good.
Pros: Small, easy to set up
Cons: Distance limted to 50ft

First time on this forum....
Reading up on this camera, the 1/2 second after tripped feature was what I was looking for. Out of the box, while trying to set the time and date, it will jump out of this mode and go into another mode. Brand new 16GIG SD card and the camera has yet to record one picture. Setup booklet leaves much to be desired. Placing the SD card into my laptop reveals that the system apparently formatted the chip because I see the DCIM Folder, then the 100MEDIA Folder, but the folder is empty, nothing to view. And yes, I have a small Simmons Game cam that works as advertised and I can read the SD card from it all day long in my laptop. As is so often the case, these made in China items suffer the same issues the older Made in Taiwan, Made in Japan, Made in Korea, Made in Bangladesh, etc suffered in the past. Website does not offer a good comprehensive PDF style Users manual. For the cost of this Unit, I expected much more. If any one else has purchased one of these and got their unit to function, please place a short vid on youTube for the rest of us so we can view what ours is supposed to work like. Thanks for listening to the rant Folks! Beware of this camera!
