I've got the Gen 1 version of these binoculars which (as far as I can determine) are the exact same binos as this Gen 3 except that the Gen 3 have superior lens coatings that will protect your eyes from a wider range of antipersonnel laser frequencies. Steiner usually restricts the sale of these to military or law enforcement only, which probably explains OpticsPlanet's no exchange/no return policy on this particular model. So, bottom line: these are very nice conventional binos that have good low-light performance, minimal eye fatigue, and they're very ruggedly built. They do cost considerably more than their performance level might indicate - until you factor in the wide-spectrum laser eye protection this model provides. If that protection isn't important to you (but you still want a ranging reticle) then you can save a lot of money by buying the Steiner M750rc instead, which also provides an internal compass.
