FF's Review of Steiner Predator 4 2.5-10x42mm Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube, Second Focal Plane
To start, I have multiple S&B klassiks and a Polar. I have two Leupold VX5HD and a Nightforce NXT. Only one of my scopes has gave me fits and it’s one of the vx5HD. The other has never let me down but the other has been sent back twice and I have lost faith in it so that is why I bought this scope. So where does this stack up. Glass is right there with all of them but the S&B Polar. That Polar is the best. The Steiner predator 4 dusk and dawn performance is every bit as good as all the others and better than the nightforce. The tracking is as good as the others and better than the vx5HD. The only issue, if you want to call it that, is the eyebox is like the S&B klassiks. The Polar, nightforce and vx5HD have better eyeboxes. If you want a scope that tracks (although not really a dialing scope), fantastic clarity and contrast, durable like the S&B and nightforce, the Steiner predator is for you. It is heavier than the vx5HD, more durable, as good or better glass, with price of mind of no floating zero, this scope is for you. The reticle is very nice for hunting. I would take all the scopes I listed in here for a hunt but I would feel most confident in the S&B, Steiner, and nightforce.
Pros:
- Glass, durability, tracking
Cons:
- Smaller eyebox, but not bad
Best Used for:
- hunting
Would Recommend:
Yes
