The Steiner IFS is not for everyone. Like any computer, the info you get out is only as good as what you put in.
With accurate inputs the scope works amazing. (Start with the updated 2.53 firmware, get a good zero on the rifle, check your muzzle velocity, get the correct BC for the projectile, shoot one batch of ammo, input data into iPad or phone and sync to scope.
I have tested from a 22LR to a 338 Lapua and it’s been almost perfect. You dial until the distance on the display matches the actual distance you are shooting to and you are set. Wind is a variable that will never be mastered, but the scope allows you to input a wind direction and speed. (or use zero wind and guess) the elevation component is going to be really accurate. There is an option to add the Kestrel or the 1535 NM binoculars to the system...
Hopefully the price will come down over time, so is it worth the extra 8 oz to the scope and the price depends on the customer and their needs.
PS. The actual scope functions normally without the IFS and is one of the best in the world. Some of the best light transmission and anti reflective coatings. You can see the the animals in the shade under trees as you look into a setting sun. (Try that with any other brand of scope.) One con besides the added weight is the IFS eats batteries, so bring extra and expect to change them often.
Hope this helps.
