First impressions - Steiner Predator 8 2-16x42mm Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube, Second Focal Plane

I selected this scope based on the price, name brand reputation and the multi-setting of the elevation knob, as this was going to be mounted a multicaliber rifle. My first Steiner optic. The quality of this optic seems top notch. The box itself comes with a factory sealed sticker to prove it was inspected and not opened since it left the factory. I have not seen that on other scopes before. This is absolutely ideal for a hunter, but I also don’t see why this wouldn’t be an ideal tactical scope as well. The eye relief is excellent and the quality of the glass comparable to much more expensive scopes that I own. The illumination has a lot of settings and stays focused on the center crosshair which I think is ideal for predator hunting in the field. On the low magnification setting it can almost be a red dot. The eye relief very easily could allow for that. The zoom knob is smooth and solid. Some scopes I think are too tight to prevent accidental movement, but I think they got it right here. I have not had the chance to test this a lot in the field, but I am extremely pleased out of the box. Take this as a first impressions review.
