Steiner has an excellent reputation, but regrettably the quality belongs to the past.
After 2 years of very occasional use, I have of to send back my Steiner Safari Ultrasharp 8x22 to the importer for repair and/or adjust the diopter compensation: Impossible for EVERYBODY to have a clear vision with both eyes. The problem was since the purchase, I received Steiner Safari Ultrasharp 8x22 in present.
I thus sent the STEINER to my expenses at Stoeger Canada (the Canadian importer, which is a part part of Beretta Group), according to their instructions with description of the problem: WHAT A PITIFUL EXPERIENCE !! After approximately two months of wait, without any piece of news or information (and several e-mails without answer) Stoeger Canada finally answered me that they had been sent in Colorado for repair, without any form of basic politeness.
Approximately 6 months later I received my Safari Ultrasharp 8x22... not repaired. They are absolutely NOT repaired ! The ONLY difference: the rubber-cover of the diopter wheel adjustment it's now unstuck , and turns endlessly. Binoculars were unsettled, they are now broken.
Stoeger Canada asks me to send back again to them!!! At my expenses!!!! Never ever!!! I shall find rather an independent workshop.
CONCLUSION:
- DO NOT TRUST THE "STEINER HERITAGEâ„¢ WARRANTY", this is a lie.
- AVOID STEINER BRAND, THEIR REPUTATION BELONGS TO THE PAST
