I have not had this lantern long enough to really give it a workout, nor have I had the chance to see how many hours the battery will actually last, it's gone for 4 hours with no problem. It's heavy but for what it is made for it works great, set it down, point the light and you have plenty of light to do whatever it is you do it the dark. I have never used a "flood" light before, it is different than a typical flashlight. There is no bright spot in the center of the beam. It just has a lot of light evenly spread out so it does not "shine" that far away. It is perfect for use in a campsite or within 200 ft. or so. I have not used the "spot" version so I cannot compare to it. The lens assy. is replaceable so I would assume the "spot" & "flood" lens would be interchangeable so with the purchase of another lens you could have both.
Pros: Well built, bright, long run time
Cons: Heavy, but to get the above pros you have to give up something.

I will definately reccomend this product to any outdoor lover.
Pros: Spectacular light at night.
Cons: Not as easy to setup initially.
