Bay Area Person's Review of Streamlight ProTac HL Rechargeable Tactical Flashlight

This light is great. it casts a wide beam but also has a distance punch as well. Bought it because it is rechargeable via USB plug and can also take CR123 batts in an emergency. Very clear with no artifacts or distortions. WHITE LED is great. Mode changes are usable and I set mine to start low and go high. I use mine for working on aircraft and doing walk around inspections. Fully illuminates the tail on a 747. As for going into the woods.....its a daylight make . You will not regret this light on a camping trip for sure.

Only issue is this: IF you depend constant availability of that light or at leastt a warning that the battery is getting low, then this is probably not for you. While the beam is always steady and bright, it WILL QUIT when the battery is depleted. No run down, no step down, no warning....just STOPS.

Now for my purposes its not an issue as I can just reach into my tool box or backpack and grab the spare battery. If your a first responder or NEED a warning that the battery is low, then buy the Fenix UC35 which is what I will be buying next for my hunting and camping light this light will stay at work. That light is essentially the same with a warning and step down. Stream-light if your reading these reviews...wake up. Pelican and Fenix beat ya to the punch on this one with the warning and step down.

In closing. great light, no complaints from me personally for my intended use, but passing along known short comings for those that need to know.

  • bright and compact
