The MC's Review of Streamlight TLR-8 Tactical C4 LED Weapon Light w/Laser Sight
First, I do like the light. I likes it's compactness. It's like it was made for Glock 19 or p229. It cuts off right at the barrel and just looks great. I've had no issues with the lights reliability from a click on click off perspective. The price is also not insane like Surefire products. The light is nice and bright and the switches are easy to use. However, if you use this in a hard plastic holster, and don't stand up only, there will be accidental activations that will cause you to burn through your very expensive cr123 batteries and your light might be down when you needed it because of this. There is a lockout feature, but that is activated and deactivated using the bezel of the light, you know like out near the muzzle, so I'd never use that. So I recommend the light if you don't sit down with your holster or don't carry the light in a holster. Otherwise, I'd say leave this one alone. At least the original model. I hear there is a new one coming out with a different way of activating the light, which probably prevents accidental activation of the light. I'd say go with that one. Not sure what I'll do with these, since they are more trouble than they're worth for my purposes.
Pros:
- compact
- Streamlight reliability
Cons:
- Accidental Action in Holsters
Best Used for:
- Not in a holster
