Carl Nolan's Review of Strike Industries AMBI Magazine Release
I just recently got this mag release in the mail and went to the range yesterday to try it out. Every time I put a magazine in and hit the bolt release the bolt would not slide forward. This is because the magazine would go too far into the mag well due to this mag release not catching it properly. Not only that, the magazine was also really hard to pull out once inserted. Furthermore, I had to insert the magazine with a lot more force than when I had the standard mag release in my rifle, otherwise it would not catch and fall out.
I'm not sure if I received a defective product or if it is designed this way, but the rectangular piece of metal that catches the magazine is slanted at the bottom, and it's not as wide as the rectangular piece on the standard mag release that came with my rifle (apologies if this description is confusing). I'm fairly certain the shape of that rectangular piece of metal was what caused the problem. Once I changed it back to my standard mag release it functioned just fine.
And just to be clear, I was using Magpul pmags while I was shooting, which did not cause the problem. Another person let me try out his Troy Industries mags and I was still having the same problem.
