Shawn's Review of Strike Industries AR Enhanced Castle Nut / Extended End Plate

So,
I had my concerns about these parts after receiving them because it wasn't put together like I expected. After watching the install video from SI, I asked them about staking the nut. They say do not stake it. There are at least two install videos with one having a fully threaded castle nut and one with a half threaded castle nut. There was also a difference in the set screws. The old ones have one set screw and the newer ones have two set screws. I used my lathe to take off some of the threads of the castle nut and I added threads to my receiver extension I'm making to fit perfectly.

The responses I have received from SI have been positive and they tried to explain the mechanics of the installation to me. I believe that I understand the basic engineering in these parts. I sent them two videos including one that I installed and loosened just to see were the witness marks were left on the castle nut.

I haven't received a response from the last video or my follow up email.

I don't believe that there is sufficient positive contact with the castle nut from the set screws to prevent the castle nut from loosening. I will be notching the castle nut and staking it, replacing the set screws with stainless ones and blacking out the SI logo. These pieces are nicely machined but I can't trust them as it. SI seamed genuinely interested in my issue but communication fizzed out.
