maleemi's Review of Strike Industries .223/5.56 Enhanced Ultimate Dust Cover
Mil-spec AR dust covers easily bend, rendering them useless or worse. Replacing mil-spec dust covers involves finding tiny little tools to carefully pry off the tiny little c clip while avoiding scratching the upper finish, and for god's sake avoid popping off the tiny little c clip in a way that causes it to go flying and disappear forever bringing your dust cover replacement project to a halt until you can obtain another tiny little c clip.
Not the worst thing in life but I would hate to replace a dust cover "in the field". The whole setup with the tiny clip and long hardened steel rod is needlesly over engineered and adds weight.,
Strike Industries Enhanced Ultimate dust covers eliminates the tiny c clip, long steel rod and the need for tiny little prying tools. SI dust covers don't bend, are almost impossible to break, and install in about 30 seconds. keep a spare in your field kit in case you figure out how to destroy these polymer cover or just pop it off and run without.
I've installed these on all my builds since I bent a mil-spec cover and discovered the improved design. Some folks say they make my ar's "look cool", bah, humbug. They don't bend and install with ease. Life is too short to spend time replacing another bent mil-spec dust cover.
