Kareivis's Review of Strike Industries Multi-Function End Plate / Anti-Rotation Castle Nut
This seemed like a great idea until I got to installing it. The set screws are very fiddly, especially the one for the non-slip castle nut. It's very easy to cross thread it and if you get it in crooked and strip it the $35 back plate goes in the garbage. I'd rather throw a cheap, staked castle nut in the garbage. They recommend torquing it down to a particular spec but if the timing is off with the set screw you either have to loosen it or really hork down on it get the timing right, which seems to defeat the purpose of using a torque wrench. There's also a set screw that allows you to change the detent and spring. But when do you ever really need to do that? If they made one with the sling options but no set screws I'd buy it.
Pros:
- I like the options for sling choices Q D and the fact that they are reversible.
- I like the options for sling choices and the QD swivel, and the fact that they are reversible.
Cons:
- Pricey and perhaps over-engineered
Best Used for:
- Experimenting
