Frank's Review of Strike Industries Scorpion Universal Reflex Mount for GLOCK
I purchased the Strike Universal mount for my Glock 17 from Optics Planet. When I opened the mount it had no instructions and lots of screws to choose from for this mount. The screws were very tiny and I wanted to get this install this mount right the first time. So, I called Optics Planet and they couldn't help me so they referred me to Strike Industries. I called Strike industries a couple of times and finally emailed them for support. They finally answered me back and sent me a YouTube video link on how to install the mount. As I started to install the mount as per the install video it was obvious that the mount was not mating up well to my Glock 17. I started by inserting the mount into my Glock rear sight dovetail, next I tightened the screw on the slide back plate Strike provided, this lifted the the front of this mount up off of my slide and I could now see a space between the mount and my slide dovetail cut out. The Strike mount lost contact with 90% of my slide. I still had to install the set screws that came with the mount. I was afraid to tighten them up because I didn't want the from of this mount to raise up off my slide any further, so I just snugged them down just making contact with my slide. With my optic tilting upward and the mount I feel like I'm having to tilt my gun forward too much. There's just no way that I ever see this mound remain in place due to the poor design of this mount. I sent Strike Industries a picture of the mount on my gun with the optic and explained what happened. They never answered me back. I don't blame Optics Planet, because I Exceeded the 30 days on their return policy. I can prove that the mount was installed 3 weeks ago and I was waiting on Strike Industries to send me instructions on how the install their mount on my Glock. I guess that I'll throw this $50.00 mount in my gun parts cabinet where it will stay forever. My loss, $50. I'm so disappointed that Strike Industries didn't stand behind their product, lesson learned. But you are now warned! I just ordered the Live Free Armory LF17 slide w/RMR cut from Optics Planet. Hopefully Live Free Armory will be a company that does what they say they do.
