I purchased the Strike Universal mount for my Glock 17 from Optics Planet. When I opened the mount it had no instructions and lots of screws to choose from for this mount. The screws were very tiny and I wanted to get this install this mount right the first time. So, I called Optics Planet and they couldn't help me so they referred me to Strike Industries. I called Strike industries a couple of times and finally emailed them for support. They finally answered me back and sent me a YouTube video link on how to install the mount. As I started to install the mount as per the install video it was obvious that the mount was not mating up well to my Glock 17. I started by inserting the mount into my Glock rear sight dovetail, next I tightened the screw on the slide back plate Strike provided, this lifted the the front of this mount up off of my slide and I could now see a space between the mount and my slide dovetail cut out. The Strike mount lost contact with 90% of my slide. I still had to install the set screws that came with the mount. I was afraid to tighten them up because I didn't want the from of this mount to raise up off my slide any further, so I just snugged them down just making contact with my slide. With my optic tilting upward and the mount I feel like I'm having to tilt my gun forward too much. There's just no way that I ever see this mound remain in place due to the poor design of this mount. I sent Strike Industries a picture of the mount on my gun with the optic...

Installed easily enough on my G34 after watching the video on the OEM website. Seems solid & well designed. One huge weakness is that the hex head screws to attach the optic (Vortex Razor in my case) require a hex wrench that is too tiny and the screws are too soft. With a Fat Wrench set at 10 inch pounds, the hex openings rounded off immediately. I will have to figure out how to extract the original screws, order spare screws from the OEM ($15 shipped) and not overtighten or try to find screws that are better quality. Not happy.

Bought to try an optic on my Glock 26. This was shipped swiftly and arrived in great condition. The design is very good, using the slide backplate for additional support seems like a huge improvement over other designs that just use the dovetail. The construction was excellent, no sloppy threads or rough edges, all the mounting hardware was included. The only negative I can think of was that no instructions were included. Install was fairly intuitive anyway but instructions would have been nice.

I couldn't find anything online (or at least when I was looking at purchasing this) stating whether or not this works with the Razor/doctor optic pattern and when I ordered this there were a set of screws specifically for that. I don't know if they were designed for that footprint because they seem a tiny bit widely spaced for said optic (I mean on the mount itself), but it works just fine and hasn't come loose for me. The way the doctor/razor mount, the screws don't need to be concentric to mount correctly. Having said that, the pins that secure it in place are set perfectly, so it's a not really a gripe of any real substance.
Overall, it's pretty good for a universal mount, it's a bit bulky out of necessity and if you attach it like you're supposed to it's pretty solid, and the charging handle option is really nice (unless you CC it on your right side, poke poke poke). To get this installed in the rear sight wedge I actually had to grease said wedge and tap it in pretty hard with a hammer, but that contributes to it requiring a lot of effort to move and being solidly mounted to the weapon, especially after being bolted down.
Overall, I've had pretty good luck with Strike Industries stuff. I can't honestly remember if this is the site I purchased this from, but I still recommend it. I installed this on my gen3 Glock 27, I can upload some pictures if needed. This does not get in the way of my holster.
Pros:
- Sturdy.
- Works well for its purpose.
- Pretty solid when installed correctly.
- Lots of different options for adding sights without having to remove and install different mounting hardware.
Cons:
- Big? But I mean it's a universal mount.
Best Used for:
- A pistol you know you're going to try out a few different optics on without the need to uninstall and reinstall different mounting hardware.

the mount itself seems well made but I had to fit 3 out of the 4 pins to mount the red dot sight and yes I used the pins I was instructed to. I had to chuck the small pins in a drill and sand until they fit snugly in the holes. There were no instructions on how to assemble all this but I figured it out. I think Strike Industries could do much better.

Before even sighted in the screws loosened up and then stripped. Easy to install but the holes are not durable enough. I will spend more money on a better mount and not have to worry about issues. Buy something else.
