Most Helpful Positive Review Sun Optics PS30432IR Prismatic 4x32 compact scope
I do not typically review products; this one is worth a comment. Rifle scopes no matter what cost boast shock resistance. This one did not change focus or zero position during a 20 rnd 210 gr 30-06 test firing on my Weatherby. Sight picture is clear. Weaver mount intergral with scope made instal...

Most Helpful Negative Review Optic is better than a punch in the nose?
Three stars is the best that I can give this optic, which is HIGHLY unfortunate. I love the clarity, the features, the reticle, the three color choices, the construction. It is pretty much everything you could want in a single power illuminated scope. Then there is the "punch in the nose" part.....

Clanging the optic color is very difficult.

by Buster, from OK, United States Written on February 17, 2025
I realize this is no longer available but I still want to say it is a very good product. So if you find one on the used market I would say it is worth look depending on the price. The only issue that I have with mine is the dial to select optic color is very difficult. When new it was hard but over time has become even more so difficult. I am not sure why. I have kept it stored and not subject to dirt or moisture. If anyone knows how to loosen this up, please comment.

Quality control

by MR, Verified Owner from MD, United States Written on May 8, 2020
This is my 3rd purchase of this optic over the years for different arms i obviously like them because of my astigmatism. 2nd optic clarity wasn't as good as the first but good enough after another 10% off. Today's unit im sending back, up is sighting down and down is sighting up. Left and right is incorrect by marking also to confusing to do opposite for zeroing i tried and then said why do this on a new purchase. Heard Monstrum was having this problem also.
Pros:
  • price is right
Cons:
  • Quality control must be slipping

Good for the price

by Matt, from NY, United States Written on July 2, 2018
Not a bad little optic, 4x is a nice magnification for an ar15 or maybe a ar9, solid mount, pretty clear glass, not cryatal but u get what u pay for, i would most likely for for the primary arms 2.5x prism over this for 20- 30 more dollars, but this scope is by no means a bad choice.

Superb for 9x19, 5.56 & 7.62 NATO

by SGT Harm, from VA, United States Written on October 14, 2017
I first purchased this for my HK91 chambered in 7.62mm NATO and used it with an elevated Scope Mount to allow use of either the Scope or Iron Sights. After getting a new 3-12x44 IR Scope for long distances, over 300 Meters, this 4x32 Sunoptics Scope found itself on my HK93 chambered in 5.56mm NATO. After this Rifle adopted a different Scooe, this Sunoptics 4x32 has happily found a new home on my BCP-EF9,an AR style Pistol with an 11 Inch Barrel chambered in 9x19mm NATO. With both HK Rifles using the elevated Scope Mount and an elevated Cheek Rest, this Sunoptics Scope did well regarding the Eye Relief. However, it is absolutely amazing with the 11 Inch AR style Pistol! This Firearm is designed as a Close Quarters Battle Personal Defense Weapon (CQB-PDW) and usually wears a Red/Green Dot Sight for quick targeting, being able to group within 3 Inches at 25 Yards. But with this Sunoptics 4x33 IR Scope, fired from a Prone Supported position, my 9mm AR style Pistol groups within 2 Inches at 50 Yards. And on this low recoil 9mm Firearm, the 3 Inch Eye Relief is absolutely perfect!
Pros:
  • Razor Sharp Optics
Cons:
  • None that I can find.
Best Used for:
  • Close Quarters Targets

Great for low recoil rifle

by Buster, from MO, United States Written on February 10, 2017
I would agree this optic has definitely got an eye relief problem. I still gave it as a 3 for all of the other features. I use it on a low recoil rifle. I think it would work on a AR15 if you use a good compensator; if not you're going to get smacked.
Pros:
  • feature rich
Cons:
  • Eye Releif
Best Used for:
  • Low recoil guns

Optic is better than a punch in the nose?

by Okie33, from OK, United States Written on February 11, 2016
Three stars is the best that I can give this optic, which is HIGHLY unfortunate. I love the clarity, the features, the reticle, the three color choices, the construction. It is pretty much everything you could want in a single power illuminated scope.
Then there is the "punch in the nose" part... The eye relief on this scope is so bad, that when mounted on an AR 5.56/.223 that you get tapped on the nose with the charge handle on every shot. Not exactly great for your accuracy! The only option is to move it so far rearward that the back of the mount is partly off the rail and actually interferes with the operation of the charging handle.
I was disappointed in the purchase to say the least. This will probably be sold or go on a plinking gun that doesn't have any recoil at all.
Wouldn't recommend it on anything with more recoil for sure!
My honest opinion...hope it helps.
Pros:
  • color options
  • Clarity/brightness is outstanding
  • pricing
Cons:
  • eye relief

Good product, good service

by Andy, Verified Owner from IL, United States Written on July 25, 2015
I ordered this product via telephone because I needed some product clarification. The customer service rep was very helpful, polite and professional.
The scope arrived in short order. I mounted it on my M&P 15-22 and used it the following day. It performed as advertised and I am quite pleased.
The only negative in this entire transaction was the slowness in receiving the email containing the shipping information.
Overall, a good product at a reasonable price with excellent customer service.

Not bad for the price

by Gunny, from MD, United States Written on February 26, 2015
So far, my Sun Optics 4x32 Prismatic Illuminated Red Dot has been an OK optic for the price.

As stated from others, the eye relief is only about 1.5". The other thing I found on mine was the cross hairs are slightly canted, not by much, but noticeable.

Nice Scope

by Steve, from FL, United States Written on August 31, 2014
Good solid site. Wish the eye relief was a little farther though but it is a 4x. Glare cover is a nice touch but I do not like the look of the shade chamber. Came quickly, as shown and described. I am happy with the purchase.
Pros:
  • Nice Scope
Cons:
  • None

Nice Scope for your money

by Legacy Reviewer, from CO, United States Written on October 21, 2013
I bought this scope as a cheap fill-in, until I could afford something more expensive. After 1000 rounds on my AR, I've decided to stick with it and see how long it lasts.. The Reticle is nice and bright for daylight use, and very sharp even with no battery.. It holds zero very well, and has a sharp image. Only drawbacks is that the eye relief on this is very short, about 1.5", and the fiber optic sight on top is so high that its not possible for a good cheek-weld. Overall, I liked it so much, I bought a 2nd one for my other AR. :-)
Pros: Inexpensive, Holds Zero, bright reticle
Cons: unknown reticle, short eye relief
