Mounting Baseplate material
I purchased the Sun Optics Sport Scope Mount SM4502 Color: in Black. I mounted the scope mount to my mini 14 and I hand tightened the bolt to the baseplate and the baseplate split in half and fell off the rifle. It looks like the mounting plate is made of galvanized steel. Not happy about this, I'm trying to get in contact with the manufacturer to see if they will replace the mounting plate. No luck yet in contacting them.

Decent mount if you can get it to stat
Let me start off by saying that if you have an older non-ranch mini 14, this is basically the only option you have to mount any sort of optics on it. With that said, this mount is pretty good if you’re patient and know what you’re doing. Getting the two elevation screws perfectly lined up and getting the adjustment knob to tighten down without the mount popping out of place is difficult but once you find the sweet spot, this mount is rock solid. Took it out and zeroed it and then took it on a hunt and it stayed zeroed so I definitely give it a thumbs up!
