Daniel's Review of SureFire Scout Light Weapon Light Switch Assembly w/Picatinny Pressure Pad

When I first received this item it did not come with the SR tape switch but instead came with the standard ST tape switch. I contacted customer support at Optics Planet and they looked into this. It turns out there was a quality control issue on surefire's end and they mislabeled the product. Optics Planet quickly got to the bottom of this and made it right, and I am a completely satisfied customer and very glad that I went through Optics Planet for this transaction. Anyway, on to the review of the actual product.

The DS tail cap is an excellent product. It adds a little more length to the light but the diameter is the same as the clicky switch that it replaced. This means with the DS switch attached, the light still fits properly on my rifle with my gear sector scout mount and magpul xtm rail panels. The push button switch on the tail cap is fantastic and I think I prefer it to the original push button because it seems to have a longer travel when pushed before it activates the constant on mode. This makes it easier to use the momentary only feature and takes a deliberate effort to make the light stay on, though it is still easy to do. The SR switch plugs in nice and tight and I have not had any issues with it coming loose under recoil and do not foresee this ever becoming an issue. The SR switch also takes a little more pressure to activate than the standard tape switch, which I believe to be a good thing. It is still easy to activate but not so easy that accidentally turning on the light will be a problem. Also, after reading other reviews I was concerned that the switch would not fit tightly enough on the rail by itself and would require the addition of zip ties. This is not the case. The SR switch snaps onto the rail with about the same tightness as ladder rail covers. I do not think I will need to add zip ties even though there are provisions on the switch for them if they are needed. I have a Daniel Defense rail just for the record.

To summarize, this is a top quality product and I have come to expect nothing else from surefire. It is also expensive and I have also come to expect nothing else from surefire as well. I am also very happy with Optics Planet and their prompt and professional customer service. Buy this item from Optics Planet with confidence!
