Svord Von Tempsky Ranger
This is one stout knife. It is made from a steel that is similar to L6, which is a very tough steel. The knife itself looks like it was finished back in the 1800's, which is to say that there was no cnc during it's making. But it is solid and very sharp. The edge is a convex style and slices paper easily. This knife is to small to be a chopper, but I did some batoning with it. Small 3-4" pieces into small sticks and it did fine. The edge is still sharp after about 15 2ft long logs that I cut into 4-5 pieces. The tip is strong and I stuck it into logs a half inch in and pried sideways with no damage. several times. I would prefer this knife without the guard, but it certainly would help in stabbing the tip into hard objects. The steel will rust, but if you keep a slight layer of oil on it, you will be fine.
Pros:
- stout and durable
Cons:
- rusts
Best Used for:
- Hard use if warranted. You can trust this and hopefully will last a lifetime.
Would recommend: Yes
