alternative to integrally suppressed barrel
I like this barrel. I own quite a few Tactical Solutions products for Ruger 10/22 and Ruger Mark III and IV. I've never been disappointed with any TacSol product - always high quality, sturdy, and thus far long-lasting.
I've seen this particular barrel out for a couple years now, and have been thinking about buying it, but decided to wait. I have enough Ruger 10/22 barrels, but nothing like this. I finally broke down and bought this barrel. Bottom line is Il like this barrel.
It's pretty light, which is good. It's the color I wanted - good again. Very snug fit in my Ruger 10/22 receiv...

tactical solutions SBX 10/22 barrel
Great barrel, light weight and fits my dead air mask can very well. Requires minor sanding with fine grit sandpaper to fit the tactical solutions x-ring 10/22 receiver. Very happy with purchase

Wow! What a fun Barrel!
Received it yesterday and installed it almost immediately after inspection. Finish was perfect. Bore was fine, but did get a few pass-throughs with a bore snake to remove very tiny shavings from the rifling. Fit was excellent (after recommended light sanding)to the barrel stub.
Already has a scope mounted on the donor receiver. Elevation was dead-on and windage just needed to walk a little to the right from the factory barrel setting.
Shooting produced several 'same hole' shots. Groups were less than .250" at roughly 23 yards with CCI subsonic rounds (and that was in a hurry to get shots out while the chainsaw was running next door). Very pleased with out-of-the-box performance at short range. Will stretch it out later as I upgrade the scope.
FYI: I used 220 and then 400 wet/dry to bring the stub into exact fit. Just like polishing a crankshaft journal. Several videos online of that technique so you don't take too much off or make it uneven. A drop of synthetic ATF and push while rotating.

Just as cool as you imagined
Everything I hoped it would be..was a tad snug going on but with a rubber mallet and the provided display silencer (not a silencer) it tapped right on. Looks great works great and dang is it light! Could be a tad cheaper but I have no regrets
Pros:
- light weight
- Short
- Sticking it to the atf
Cons:
- Spendy
Best Used for:
- Suppressed use

Does NOT fit magpul hunter stock
Nice barrel. Looks great and fit very tight in the receiver. The barrel is to short for the magpul hunter stock and the shroud hits the stock. Haven’t shot it yet so no idea on accuracy. Still working on Inletting the stock to make it work. So make sure whatever stock you use the fore end is stock length.
Pros:
- Looks good
Cons:
- Some adjustments may be required
Best Used for:
- Plinking & fun

Excellent barrel
This is an excellent upgrade to the stock 10/22. Much lighter, easier to handle and shoots very good groups. I now have hundreds of rounds through it with most being super colibris along with the standard 22LR. Have considerably thinned the local rat & varmint population. Only downside was my Griffin optimus would not fit inside of the shroud. Using mostly colibris though it that did not matter most of the time. Although not cheap I highly recommend it.
Pros:
- very light, accurate.
Cons:
- shrould will not fit some silencers, double check.
Would recommend: Yes
sbx short barrel
Easy install, light weight, accurate, but- does not fit all 22 silencers like my YHM Wraith. If the shroud were a little wider... Guess I now have an excuse to get a new/ better 22 can. otherwise I'd give it 5 stars!

Ultra light
Fantastic barrel for building an ultra light race gun. The finish is superb and the accuracy is surprisingly good for how short the rifling is. And if you’re going to use a suppressor there’s no better option.
Pros:
- light weight
- Accurate
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Light weight build
Would recommend: Yes
Why pay for an SBR tax stamp when you can buy the SBX?
I have about 100 rounds through the barrel and am very pleased with the performance. At 50 yards with CCI Standard Velocity, 5 shot groups were between a nickle and a quarter. I'm sure experiences shooters could fine tune that. The install was easy and straight forward. The Tactical Solutions V block is needed for install. The shroud fits both the Gemtech GM22 and the Silencer CO Spetre II as well as other suppressors with the OD of 1". It provides great protection for the suppressor and creates some security that an accidental fall would not damage the threaded barrel end or the suppressor itself. Overall I am happy with my purchase and would recommend the SBX barrel to other Ruger 10/22 owners. I have not yet tested it to 100 yards but am confident it will succeed my expectations.
Pros:
- light weight
- No added length with suppressor.
- Added safety for threaded barrel end as well as the suppressor.
- Short Barrel without the $200 stamp.
Cons:
- None thus far.
Best Used for:
- Squirrel hunting
- Backyard plinking
