Most Helpful Positive Review sweet 4 o clock extraction
I paired this with a sprinco red buffer spring in my carbine gas system in my 556 and 762x39. I works very well. Less hassle then installing adjustable gas block. Very happy with this purchase espeacially for the price point.

A quality H4 buffer

by James, Verified Owner from IN, United States Written on September 16, 2022
Quality mfg product. This buffer really tames the over gassed AR platform especially when paired with a Sprinco buffer spring. I have 3. Two weigh 6.7oz. and one weighs 6.8 oz. I'm very happy with these & I highly recommend these H4 buffers!

Weighs 6.1 oz, NOT 6.8 as advertised

by fatalattractionz, Verified Owner from PA, United States Written on February 9, 2022
Weighs 6.1 oz, NOT 6.8 as advertised in the pic and the specifications. It's a buffer, it's solid, it's priced right but i needed something heavier, i already have 6.2 and wanted to try these 6.8 but they actually only weigh 6.1 so it does me no good. Should've just went with an adjustable gas block.

It's a buffer. It buffers.

by TheChemistr, from MT, United States Written on October 25, 2021
The buffer is great and price was right. I expect the nylon button to deform relatively quickly since it's completely inside the tube and not flanged to push against the edge of the tube. Optics Planet did a great job getting it here on time, as promised.

fits like a glove for a AR15 carbine plarform milspec

by KenC, Verified Owner from NV, United States Written on October 24, 2021
I needed a heavier carbine buffer for my AR10 build, I installed this on a UBR gen2 stock. So no adapter needed. Just an ar10 carbine spring and I drop this heavy buffer, when it was delivered the description says 6.1oz instead of the 6.8 oz that they advertised. As long as it’s heavier than the 5.8oz H3 buffer that I’m replacing I’m happy. All in all it fits and now my over gas issues are solved, yes I also added an adjustable gas block to make sure I can control the over gassed issues I’m having. Highly recommended, two thumbs up.
Pros:
  • steel and very strong
  • heavy but durable
Cons:
  • none so far
Best Used for:
  • Over gassed ar platform

Works mint

by Jimbo McTrump, from MN, United States Written on October 4, 2021
She’s good and heavy, my 7.62 I built cycles just perfectly as it should. However if you’re like me don’t forget a heavier hammer spring and maybe even a advanced firing pin or it may not go bang. With that being said, get out and vote 2022 and 2024!!
Pros:
  • it works
Cons:
  • non
Best Used for:
  • Your AR-AK or AR-47

Thicker than standard, may not fit all lowers!

by Wedgedeagle, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on September 22, 2021
I bought one of these to smooth out my overgassed KP15 build, but when I installed it I noticed it was a few millimeters thicker than the standard carbine buffer it was replacing. The recoil spring barely fit over it, and it ended up catching on something inside the stock which prevented the bolt from cycling all the way. I can’t say how it works for standard buffer tubes, but if you happen to be using a KP15 you might be better off saving up for one of those JP silent captured buffers for a proper WWSD build!
Pros:
  • Solid chunk of steel, looks nice, no rattle
Cons:
  • Not compatible with KP15, may have issues with other setups

Works Perfect with 16" AR and Over Gassed ejection

by Dee, from IL, United States Written on September 13, 2020
As much as I love my 16" AR it's over gassed and ejecting the brass at the 2 clock position. No Biggie, I I knew that I had to slow down the Bolt so this H4 Buffer was ideal for setup. Now the brass ejects in the perfect 3 clock position. 300 Rounds were sent through, outdoor range. No issues at all. Perfect function with Steel and Brass Ammo. I was destroying steel plates at 50, 150 and 200 yards with the greatest of ease. Like an overly attached girlfriend, cling cling cling.
Pros:
  • good quality
  • Works as advertised
  • Function and fit.
Cons:
  • tuning Ejection
Best Used for:
  • Range
  • Recreation and training

Does the job it needs to get done

by ThatGuy, Verified Owner from MO, United States Written on July 15, 2020
This little product does what it needs to tame an AR10. It is a solid buffer. There are no weights...just FYI. Tolerances are spot on...I've had some buffers that are loose around the neck area where the spring slides on. Not this. It is steel. I would put a light coat of CLP on it.

For the money. This cannot be beat.

by ThatGuy, Verified Owner from MO, United States Written on June 6, 2020
This buffer does what it needs to do. It is a heavy buffer offering and is of steel.

I do wish it would have internal weights that one could install to dialing in even more weight...but that is ok.

The finish is phosphate so if you have a flat wire spring that is tight fitting...the finish will become a bit dull.
Pros:
  • Price
Cons:
  • No option to run more weights
Best Used for:
  • AR10

H4 buffer slows down bolt carrier

by Eddie, from GA, United States Written on February 14, 2020
This buffer went into an LMT Mars rifle with a 24 in. 6.5 Creedmoor Barrel. The extra length Increase the bolt carrier group cycling rate. But the H4 buffer slow the bolt down enough to make the rifle reliable
