Best Rings Made
I’ve been using Talley rings since they’ve been making them in my home town. By far the best rings on the market in my opinion. Simple, no BS design without a separate base, just makes good sense. I’ve deopped a rifle out of a climber and it hit the ground on the scope taking a chunk out of the fron...

Wrong size screws
If you have a Remington 700 this is useless, they made it with 8-40 screwsin mind instead of the correct 6-48 screws, resulting in utter garbage and a waste of your time. Go with a company that uses the right size screw, like Leopold or literally anyone else.
Talley x bolt rings
These are a rock solid way to mount your scope on an Browning X bolt rifle. On magnum size cartridges these are a great option for a secure scope mount setup.
Pros:
- Excellent value
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- hunting
Would recommend: Yes
Arrived quickly in excellent condition.
Arrived quickly in excellent condition. I ordered the wrong height and had to return them in exchange for the correct height. Optics Planet told me that they have received my returned items and will be shipping out the others.

Talley's are the best
I shoot a lot. Talleys are on every rifle I own. They are the best. Never need "tweeking", build to an exacting standard. Their customer service is world class. You actually talk to a person...
Pros:
- Well made, a lot of detail, good balance
Cons:
- None I can think of
Best Used for:
- Rifles
Would recommend: Yes
Talley all the way!
Talley rings are my go to rings. I have them on all of my rifles. I definitely like the one piece set up. I tried the Leupold Backcountry and I had to shim the rear mount to take full advantage of the range of dealing my scope. Talley wins!!!

No Brainer
Everybody talks up all these high dollar rings they can go into the hundreds of dollars and frankly it’s stupid. I can’t tell one iota difference between a $230 ring and these rings. Use them on every gun I have, which is several dozen, and with the exception of the guy that’s putting a $3500 scope that weighs 35oz on a gun and feels like he needs rings to make him shoot one thousandths of an inch better that’s an option. For the money, talley and DNZ simply can’t be beat! Use a torque driver to set the ring tension on the gun for the bases and the ring screws on the scope. Do it right the first time and it’ll last the rest of your life.
Pros:
- light
- Relatively compact
Cons:
- None
Best Used for:
- Hunting and mid to moderate range shooting 500-600 yards
Would recommend: Yes
Combines With Leupold & Savage Perfectly
These scope mounts are solid. Attaching directly to the receiver, skipping the rail mount, saves time and money, and avoids the potential problems caused by having another piece with more screws and parts involved. I used the 950793 mounts to mount a Leupold VX-Freedom 3-9X40 Rimfire scope on a Savage Mark II .22 rifle. The scope has just enough clearance above the rear iron sight to work perfectly. The combination is excellent and accurate.
Pros:
- Strong and attaches directly to firearm receiver.
Cons:
- None known
Best Used for:
- Accurate bolt action shooting.
Would recommend: Yes
Great bases when shipped the correct ones
I have used Talley rings on all my Remington rifles. By far the best out there. My issue is with Optics Planet. Most Remington 700 rifles have 6-48 base screws. Nowhere on the description did Optics Planet say that the ones they were selling were 8-40 screws. I had to order another set from another company for my sons new custom rifle. I would suggest you be more specific in your description of what screws your bases come with.

Talley lightweight mounts
Excellent product. Perfect fit and alignment on both of my X bolts. I prefer this setup compared to separate base and rings and the lighter weight is a plus but not substantial. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase another set when the time comes.
Pros:
- No lapping needed
Cons:
- zilch
Would recommend: Yes
Scope rings
These scope rings work really well for the price point. Went on a Colorado elk hunting trip with them attached to my .300 win mag. They hold zero very well, never had an issue. Great option for those not looking to break the bank on scope rings but get a quality product.

Talley Lightweight Rings - 2 thumbs up
The Talley lightweight rings are perfect for stalking and mountain applications. They are tough and durable, and as the name implies, "lightweight". These are my goto rings when every ounce is important.
