E's Review of Talley Tactical Rifle Scope Rings

I was looking for the most solid set of scope rings for my Sightron scope with 30mm tube. I bought the Talley Tactical rings because I had previous experience with them before - they were one of the few scope ring manufacturers I found that had rings for my Winchester 70 .223 WSSM. In addition, every time I contacted them (Talley) they responded very quickly. Because I was impressed with their previous products and customer service, I chose to check with them prior to making subsequent scope ring purchases. Once again Tally came through. They answered my question quickly, and I'm impressed with these scope rings I got from them. Talley seems like a great company. I got the black rings with 6 screws per scope ring (3 screws on each side of each ring). Sure they weigh a little more, but this is for a benchrest rifle...sure they take up a little more room on the scope and rail, but I had plenty of space on both. Your situation may differ, but these were not issues for me. Take this review with a grain of salt, I'm somewhat inexperienced when it comes to scopes and scope rings, but I'm extremely happy with these rings. These appear to be very high quality. That said, they may be bit pricey for some, but seems like most high quality scope rings are. My only critique is that the "crossbones" on the scope rings are unnecessary - just not my thing. I decided to live with it because they're subdued, and you can't really see them when the scope is attached. I knew they were there before I made the purchase and decided to proceed anyway, so it wasn't as if I was surprised that they were there.
Pros:
  • High quality
  • Solid Mounting
  • Stable scope platform
Cons:
  • A little pricey
  • Unnecessary crossbones design
Best Used for:
  • Precision rifle
