Hard plastic. the trick to using these is to take sand paper and make both ends slightly conical when you get to the other end push it from inside while you use a punch to drive it from outside. Its a little tricky but the plactic makes the bolt respond better. I love these
This is a somewhat flexible hard rubber rod. One can drive out the factory steel rod and try to install this one. It goes in one side, but it won't come out the other side. The tip trying to come out the other side of the receiver gets caught on the inside of the receiver and cannot get through the ...

Installed these in each of my wife's and my 10/22 Steel Challenge guns. Actions run much smoother and quieter with less wear. A big, easy and inexpensive improvement!

I have been using these buffers for a long time like 30 years and I think they save wear and tear on your 10/22 receiver. They also seem to make the rifle cycle quieter and smoother.

This is a cheap and effective solution to eliminate metal on metal collision when the bolt of your 10/22 cycles. I had a different buffer that was a metal pin with rubber covering, however the rubber did not like to stay on during installation and ended up getting chewed up by the bolt. I am confident this one will last much longer. Initial install didn’t take long but I did have to get it lined up with both holes but I am sure after some time in the rifle it will naturally shape to the alignment. The simple solution paired with tandemkross’s lifetime warranty makes for a winner.

This is a great option to replace the metal buffer pin and will take some of the noise out of you 10/22 cycling. Cheap and easy upgrade. You may have to sand it down a bit or apply a tiny bit of gun oil depending on your receiver.
Pros:
Inexpensive
Quiet
Easy upgrade
Cons:
None
