Most Helpful Positive Review Don't Trust the Bad Reviews
Not sure what these other reviewers are talking about when they say "it's too light" for them. That makes no sense to me. You are replacing a piece of plastic with a heavier piece of metal. It's not rocket science. It's plenty heavy enough and I love these things. They make my 5.56 mags easily distinguishable from my .300 mags. Installation was super quick and easy. Just make sure you have the push pin all the way out before sliding it on. Otherwise, it won't slide on all the way.

Taran Tactical Pmag Base plate

by NJCMB01, from NJ, United States Written on February 13, 2021
Taran Tactical, besides making great quality products also makes some of the coolest looking gear money can buy. I love a product that functions just as good as it looks and these do. Thanks to Optics Planet I have my newest addition to my AR.. I just happen to be the type of guy that always has to personalize my stuff and make it mine. If you happen to be like me in that arena then get it together with O.P. and T.T
Pros:
  • Performance and price
  • Added capacity
  • look & feel
Cons:
  • Makes you want more
Best Used for:
  • Quick mag release
  • added capacity

larue is a taren tactical product

by john, from CA, United States Written on December 16, 2019
The comments of lerue being better is weird since taren tactical makes lerue mag extension for the ar 15? What gives here am i missing something? All the other taren tactical products that i have had the opportunity to use have worked flawlessly. The weight added was perfect and they ran flawless. I am not associated with taren tactical

Needs to be a bit heavier.

by Robbie, Verified Owner from PA, United States Written on January 24, 2019
As the other reviewer mentioned, these base pads feel too light. I’ve been using LaRue base pads as well and like the extra weight as they seem to drop more positively and faster when fast reloading. The fit and build quality is very good and I have no other issues with it with these extended base pads.
Pros:
  • Design and Engineering
  • build great
  • Look and feel
Cons:
  • too light

Seems too light for me.

by Robbie, Verified Owner from PA, United States Written on December 7, 2018
I’ve been using LaRue mag ext for my Magpul magazines and they’ve been working perfectly so I decided to try something different. Although the product feels great and does set up very well with no snags, it feels way too light when compared to LaRue. And the whole I dead besides have a few extra rounds is for quick detachment from the firearm when empty. It’s just needs to be a bit heavier to be more functional.
Pros:
  • Looks sharp
  • Smooth Finish
Cons:
  • too light
