Works, but flawed

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on April 28, 2010
It works overall, so it's hard to say it's terrible. It worked great at first but after just a few uses the numbered collars on the dials came loose. They just spin freely so you can't see what setting you are on. The solar/battery knob just started spinning around and around. I can't choose solar anymore because of this. The battery kept shifting slightly in it's compartment so occasionally the scope wouldn't turn on until I re-seated the battery. When mounted on a 9mm handgun they mount kept coming loose but on the AR-15 so far it's stayed put.

I does still work though, the dot is very bright and at the lower power settings it is very crisp with little sunbursting. The solar cell powers the unit even on overcast days to about 60% power. It's just a shame I can't use that option anymore.

From what I read about $40-$75 red dots they all are pretty bad quality - which is to be expected. This one still works so far, I just can't use the solar option anymore and I have to look through it to make sure it is on or off - since the numbered collars on the dials just sit there. Why the numbers weren't silk screened directly onto the dials in the first place is beyond me.

Overall I would not recommend.
Pros: cheap, solar powered, decent dot, bright
Cons: mount is difficult, knobs come loose, battery comes loose
Would recommend: No

Not good...

by Legacy Reviewer, from WA, United States Written on June 5, 2008
Was optimistic when this scope arrived, but was soon let down. First, the red dot is not a sharp little dot like you would expect...instead it is fuzzy and has "light branches" which are distracting. Second, after handling the unit about three times, the power selector switch twisted off in my hand. I expected a lot more for $70 ,so I am sending it back asap for a different scope.
Pros: solar option
Cons: cheaply made
