TerraLux MiniStar 1 Universal Upgrade LED
I bought the TerraLux MiniStar 1 LED upgrade for use in vintage PR-type 2D flashlights. I've installed it in several such lights, and in all of them, it produces a clean white light, significantly brighter than incandescent bulbs, with a well-formed center spot and a nicely-attenuated surrounding flood. It's the only satisfactory LED upgrade I've found for use in 2D non-focusing lights. By comparison, The Nite-Ize upgrade produces a much dimmer output with an objectionable donut hole in the center.
I've also installed the MiniStar 1 in an old 6V Rayovac lantern. Though I had to reverse the polarity with some jumpers, the results were good: a tightly-concentrated spot with a MUCH longer throw than any of my 2D lights.
Overall, this is a really good upgrade for old PR flashlights.
