Line Counter Not As Accurate As Other Brands

by Kfreeze, Verified Owner from MN, United States Written on July 5, 2024
I seen other reviews of these that said the line counter wasn't really accurate. I spooled two of these reels up with 15 lb Trilene Big Game line and tested them. I came up with readings on the line counter of: 75 @ 100 actual feet, 165 @ 200 actual feet, and 265 @ 300 actual feet. Other than the counters being that far off, the reels seem nice. I can't comment on durability, because I just got them to try out. They also didn't seem as repatable on the readings as my Abu Garcia 5500LC and Diawa Lexa 100 LC reels. The readings varied 5-6 feet on the counter between going out to 300 feet and reeling it in a few times. That could be line stretch with mono though, as I had braid on my other reels. So that wasn't a fair test. Other than inaccurate line counters I would say they seem decent for the money. I got them on sale here. I would probably go with Okuma stuff to try before buying these again though. I can run them and know where my cranks are running since I checked them though. Just have to run a counter reading that matches the actual feet out you find when you check them with a tape measure.
Pros:
  • Smooth cranking, drag is smooth
Cons:
  • Line counter inaccurate when measured with a tape measure.
