Most Helpful Positive Review Requires a bit of fitting.
The safety lever is a bit larger than the stock lever. I had to clearance a small amount, maybe an 1/8” inside the stock so it would completely disengage. Well worth it though. So much better than the stock trigger on a S1 Vanguard!

timney trigger

by RICH, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on August 31, 2025
Bought this for howa trigger upgrade. The factory howa trigger only adjusts down to 3.5 lbs. Timney 609 adjusts 1.5 to 4 lbs. For bench shooting a light crisp trigger is best, that's what you get with Timney.

Does NOT fit Howa Superlite

by Dustin, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on November 16, 2024
This is a great trigger for the standard Howa 1500 action. I ordered it thinking it would go in my new Howa Superlite and although it is the same design, it is a little longer. JARD makes a trigger for the super lite,

Unbelievably simple drop in!

by Jeremy Garner, from MO, United States Written on May 26, 2021
This install, including set the trigger to 2.5 lbs, took no more than about 10 minutes total! I had originally had it ordered through Tunney directly and it was never disclosed to me that it was on back order. I found it available here and for cheaper and had it in roughly 3 days! Thank you Optics Planet I appreciate the help.
Pros:
  • Simplicity, price, adjustment, durability
Cons:
  • none yet

Timney Howa 1500 trigger with safety

by NK, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on November 21, 2020
Good aftermarket trigger. I have four Timney triggers on rifles and all are great triggers. I had no fitment issues with the Howa 1500 trigger. It adjust for how light or heavy it allows. Few stock rifles will adjust as well as you like. Timney is the next logical and safe step. They are a little pricey.
Pros:
  • made well, good construction & materials used.
Cons:
  • Pricey
Best Used for:
  • Howa 1500

Works well, very adjustable

by Wildjohn, from TX, United States Written on April 27, 2020
The trigger was shipped with a replacement attaching screw that was about two turns too long to clear the bolt. Thirty seconds on a belt sander fixed that. Dimensionally the trigger is slightly different than the original, resulting in floor plate/ trigger interference. Again quickly fixed with a dremel. But be aware, this may not be a drop in replacement. The adjustment for trigger pull was easy, dropped from 3lb12ozs, to 1lb12ozs in about one full turn on the adjustment screw. Yep light for a hunting gun but 99+% of my shooting is from a bench.
Pros:
  • well made
  • Adjustable
Cons:
  • Dimensionally different from OEM
  • Included hardware too long
Best Used for:
  • hunting

So simple a caveman could do it...

by Crash, from AZ, United States Written on August 9, 2019
Product came exactly as described and on time. It was an exact fit to a Howa 1500 and needed NO modifications to get it installed right. Just take apart stock, remove trigger assembly screw to remove trigger, drop in Timney and install trigger screw, replace stock, torque action bolts. Go shoot. My groups got significantly tighter because of it and I noticed immediate results.
