The stock trigger, while adequate for plinking, leaves alot to be desired for precision shooting. The Timney replacement trigger for the Ruger American Rimfire is another world entirely. If you're handy as a gunsmith it will be fairly easy to install, but if you're like me be prepared with a cup of coffee and some patience. Once installed though, it will take your shooting to a whole nother level. When they say 1.5# they absolutely mean it so be careful. Highly recommended.
Best Used for:
- Precision rimfire shooting

This is the first timney trigger I have purchased. I have several Trigger Tech triggers which are very good triggers. This Timney trigger is just as good. A really good trigger makes a good shooting rifle a great shooting rifle. I would definitely buy another one.
Best Used for:

I ordered this to replace the trigger on the Ruger American ranch .300 blackout. Could not say enough on how much this thing improved my rifle. Crisp break for steady precise shots, this was installed on my Elk hunting rifle. 100% recommend this to replace factory trigger

The trigger itself is great. I felt that it was worth what I paid.
However, the Optics Planet listing needs to be more clear about this item.
This is for the Gen 1 Ruger Ranch which has a 2 position safety. The Gen 2 has a 3 position safety. This is the only difference. There is a different Sku for Gen 2 Timneys
It does work, and does reset... However, you cannot re-use a Gen 2 Safety.
This is not a deal breaker, but might be an issue for some people. I only shoot at a bench and I always remove the bolt when not firing, so this does not affect me.
Optics planet should revise this listing to reflect this, because this is very clear when you check the Timney website.

I put this trigger in my .308. At the time I also re-scoped the rifle with a Leupold 6-18x40, I did away with the pic rail and used Talley rings, I also re-stocked it with a Boyd Prairie Hunter and replaced the bolt shroud with a titanium one that was also purchased at OP. Granted the shroud was purely aesthetic. I also polished, trued the bolt itself, the action is silky smooth, eliminating that zipper feeling the stock bolts have.
The Timney Trigger was an incredible improvement in its stock form, but was I made a few minor adjustments it became an entirely new animal. These triggers are fantastic, the absolute pure “icing on the cake” those improvements all done and told cost more than the rifle, but that rifle is now a tack driver and easy on eyes to boot.
I’m now doing the same upgrades to an RAR rimfire and am excited to experience the same or better improvements.
Pros:
- adjustability, moderate cost
Cons:
- Cant think of a single con
Best Used for:
- increased accuracy, customization

If you go to Timmey website under tech tips, you will see there Is a modification that must be performed on the older ruger american rifles. The biggest problem in the 22 rimfire is the fine roller pins that must be removed then reinstalled.what a real pain in the. *** the pins are so small and the new trigger holes are tight are real tight Have patience!!,,,,sucks
