Gunnut1's Review of Tipton 13-Piece Ultra Jag Set

My title says it all. These are great! I have read review here stating the sre too slick. do not find this to be true. They function as well as solid brass jags as far as puching the patch through the bore. If the reviewers who are saying these ar too slick are trying to scrub the barrel by running them back and forth then of course the patch will come off as jags are not designed to do that. They are designed to push one patch through the bore then remove the rod and jag and push another jag through the bore. i you just and to scrub the bore then use a loop.
The packages is great. Yes, they are hard to get out of the case but there is a warning that is included in the case that states that. Once you remove the jags a couple of times, they will be easier to remove and reinstall.
Of course where these really shine is when you are using a copper remover. Copper removers will react with brass jags and give you a "false" reading with blue junk on the patch. I do not know what material these are made from but they will not react with the caustic copper remover solvents we use.

I would highly recommend these to any shooter.
Pros:
  • Durable, well made
  • Will not react with copper dissolving solvents.
  • Great packaging
Cons:
  • Not really a con but more of a nit, they are hard to remove from the case initially.
Best Used for:
  • All center fire, breech loaded, firearms. I would not use them on muzzle loaders.
Would Recommend: Yes
