Most Helpful Positive Review TIPTON ULTRA JAG
A cleaning jag is a cleaning jag, right... WRONG! There are plastic ones that break eventually, there are steel ones, aluminium ones and then there are those made by Tipton. I ordered this Tipton jag in 40 caliber size for my big-bore rifles and .410 shotgun and it is a top notch nickel plated brass jag with the standard 8-32 thread that fits most cleaning rods. I am very happy and excited with the quality of this jag. Well, okay, maybe not excited over this jag but definitely pleased with it and it should give me many years of service. Doesn’t leave false positives

I like these jags because since there isn’t any copper exposed, they don’t leave false positive results when using copper cleaning solutions. A great investment and a time saver. I think I have one of every size they make.

Better then slotted tips

Always used a slotted tip for cleaning patches. I got a new rifle and saw these jags for the first time. Would never go back. Used my existing square patches and never had a problem. These jags fill up more of the barrel so that the patch contacts all of the barrel surfaces. I believe they apply solvents and oil more evenly and do a better job wiping it out. The fact that they are plated so that the brass does not react with the solvent and leave colors of its own on the patch is very nice.

excellent fitting jag. bought it to use with the tipton carbon fiber rod i ordered at the same time. doesnt leave that bluish green stain on patches like the untreated jags. nice sharp point punctures patches effortlessly

Tipton .30 Caliber Jag

Bought these jags to use with the Tipton Carbon Fiber rods I have purchased. The jags appear to be very well made with nice sharp point and well defined ridges that seem to hold the cleaning patches well. Also like the finish which is intended to be impervious to some of the more aggressive copper and carbon cleaning products.
Pros: Quality product seems to be well made and durable
