Wonderful surprise!

by heimdall66, from TX, United States Written on August 11, 2016
Let me say this knife was a wonderful surprise. The blade is beautiful. The wood looks great! It fits in my hand like a glove. For the price I paid I figured there would be some small issue here or there. Nope! All it needs is a Kydex scabbard because leather doesn't stand up to Texas summer sweatin'. I intend to purchase more of these little jewels.

Excellent knife for the price, but needs some fine tuning.

by Tactical Lumberjack, from ON, Canada Written on July 28, 2015
I purchased this knife several weeks ago and the first thing I noticed as soon as I unboxed it was several small defects in various areas of the knife. The blade had a decent chip in it (which is practically gone after some edge shaping - I changed the edge from a convex to a flat grind - and sharpening), there is a small chunk of the handle material missing at the very top of the handle scale on the left side which makes no difference to use but is a little off-putting visually, and there were some sharp edges in the finger ring that I sanded down in a couple minutes. The sheath looks to be very well made and fits the knife very well, however the belt loop is relatively small. I plan to fix this by attaching a larger leather loop through the current belt loop and changing the orientation of the sheath at the same time as allowing the use of larger (average) sized belts.

BUT overall I was pleased with this knife as it is now razor sharp (I shaved off some arm hair with it) and feels great in the hand, I have yet to use it for skinning but judging by how long it took to sharpen (several hours to redo the grind with some hand files and a couple more to finish the edge after that with a Lansky kit - if you keep the factory grind and only sharpen it I suspect it would take around a half hour for careful sharpening) I suspect it will hold an edge very well.

I would recommend this knife if you dont mind doing a bit of touching up!
Pros:
  • Feels great in your hand
  • very nice design
  • sheath works very well
Cons:
  • might need some finishing after purchase
  • belt loop is somewhat small
Best Used for:
  • small hunting or camp knife
