Trijicon RMR user's Review of Trijicon RMR Type 2 RM01 LED 1x65mm 3.25 MOA Red Dot Sight

I don’t have any field experience with this particular item other than sighting it in, but wanted to comment on my first impressions. It is an expensive item, so I am hoping it proves to be worthy of the price tag. After reading several reviews on it, I decided to purchase one for turkey hunting. I mounted it to the shotgun and dialed it in at home. I adjusted the red dot in line and a little above the front bead. I took it to the range and first tested it at 10 yards using a turkey choke. The POI was about 2 inches low and 1 inch left of my POA. I adjusted accordingly and it was spot on... taking out the golf ball-sized red circle in the center of the target. I repeated shots at 20, 30 and 40 yards, all resulting in uniform/even patterns. PROS (So far) Packaged in a quality hard case. The glass is clear. The dot is prominent at lower settings. Extremely easy to zero in. Appears to be rugged and well made. Asthetically pleasing on my particular shotgun. The user’s preferred illumination setting is easy to find by using the + or - buttons. Multiple brightness settings. Small, but adequate field of view. Allows me to shoot with both eyes open. Quick target acquisition. Easy windage and elevation adjustments. 1x magnification. I’m confident I will find more pros as I gain more experience with it in the field. CONS: (So far) Must take the optic off of the gun in order to change the battery. I couldn’t feel the + and - illumination buttons click prominently, so I found myself pushing quite hard on them. The dot was a little distorted at higher settings. My initial impression rates the optic at 4.80. 1 deduction for the battery issue and 1 deduction for having to push hard on the + - illumination buttons. Since 4.8 wasn’t an option, I rated it a 5. The cons to me were minor and did not warrant a 4.
