Still the OG of pistol dots

by Matt S., Gear Expert from IL, United States Written on March 7, 2024
Trijicon may not have intended for this to be the OG of pistol dots but it is and still going strong.

Robust housing, reliable click adjustments, good variety of dot sizes.

RMR footprint is the most common optic cut and this is a great optic for your pistol or rifle with plenty of mounting options.

If you are looking to invest in a quality optic that you can rely on, this is still one of the best choices.
Most Helpful Positive Review Trijicon RMR
I don’t have any field experience with this particular item other than sighting it in, but wanted to comment on my first impressions. It is an expensive item, so I am hoping it proves to be worthy of the price tag. After reading several reviews on it, I decided to purchase one for turkey hunting. ...

Most Helpful Negative Review Trijicon 3.25 RMR Type 2 was BAD right out of the box
I was not familiar with Trijicon products, but have used Aimpoint red dots for years. Purchased for a Walther PPQ Q5 competition 9mm. Once mounted and turned on it looked like a hazy fluid was compressed between two pains of glass with a squished red dot. Trijicon did authorize a return back to the ...

by nick m, Verified Owner from PA, United States Written on September 20, 2025
What a piece of garbage. Loses zero after a few shots. Unacceptable for a 500 plus dollar optic. I’ll never purchase another trijicon again. Neither should you

RMR kicks butt

by DeepindheartoTexas, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on May 28, 2025
Older dudes like me don’t like change, glad I tried this RMR. Rugged, you won’t bust it, the battery is good for better than a year. If it goes out? No biggie, use your sights for something other than a back-scratcher. It will really help if your eyes are fading, like your author, all the way to 100 yard shots with my new G26. It’s hot in Texas and you’ll sweat when out running around, your RMR doesnt care-water proof/sweat proof! Gitcha one you’ll see they are worth the price tag.
Pros:
  • Fast tgt aquitition
Cons:
  • Spendy
Best Used for:
  • Repeling borders and tgt shootin

Fit my Canik TTI perfectly, without the adapter plate. Easy to adjust and just need to take it to the range to zero in.

Rating the service more than the item

by Dale, Verified Owner from MT, United States Written on May 2, 2025
I ordered this because I am having a difficult time adjusting to using a red dot sight. I have been using another brand that has a small screen. This RMR is very well built and crystal clear. My issue was that the sight window is as small or maybe a bit smaller than the one I have now. I compared them, immediately packaged up the item and returned it to OpticsPlanet. I will be looking for a SRO model which is not quite as stoutly constructed but a much larger screen.

I received an RMA the next day, with a prepaid return label from UPS. I sent it the next day and after receiving the return, Optics Planet credited my account. The return process was easy, prompt and exactly as advertised by OpticsPlanet. Their service was, as usual, absolutely top notch.
Pros:
  • Built like a tank
Cons:
  • Smallish screen

Back up RMR red dot

by Rusty Tuffputts, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on March 22, 2025
On my AR-15 I have a Trijicon ACOG with canted iron sights as backup. Although I don’t mind using iron sights, I prefer not having to tilt my weapon. That’s when I noticed I could install a mounted RMR onto my ACOG and use that as back up and shorter range targets. Works like a charm.
Best Used for:
  • Back up and shorter range
