Leifer's Review of Trijicon 4x32 ACOG Scope M4A1 Rifle Scope w/ Amber Center Illumination
USMC/Army Infantry vet here. This is not the ACOG that was used by any unit I was ever in. That would be the TA31F with the chevron. This one is designed for a 14.5 carbine with M855 (62 grain) ammo for the bullet drop compensator. That is why I got it. The chevron is incredibly useful when speed is critical which is where I can see this falling short. I say that because with no illumination I've found it to be a problem when trying to find the reticle on a dark background like a forest where the reticle becomes almost invisible. With that said, if Trijicon put an illuminated dot in the center of the reticle this would be a perfect optic. I still like this optic because it is very accurate but keep in mind the limitation of reticle blurring with dark backgrounds. I've mounted a trijicon 1 MOA red dot on the back of the sight which I think is obligatory if you want this combat ready. If you're just plinking on the range, this works great by itself. The nightsight illumination is decent for that twilight time before you need your NODS but it's not overwhelming by any stretch, it's faint illumination.
Pros:
- accurate bdc for 62gr ammo
Cons:
- reticle not illimunated
Best Used for:
- Target shooting
