Most Helpful Positive Review The best thing for a carry handle AR
I have a Colt Match HBAR I bought after the first AWB... non removable carry handle. I used a knockoff 4x scope styled like the Colt 3x, I liked the magnification, but the HBAR needed a real optic. The TA31A is the best optic if you have a non-removable carry handle. I flipped a coin and went with the red triangle, and I'm satisfied with it. Pros: solid, designed for a carry handle, heritage Cons: None

ACOG TA31A 4x32 that fits in the AR-15 A2carry handle

by Hanokem, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on July 26, 2025
If you have an AR that has a non-removable carry handle, and want a 4 power optic to use on the rifle, which will be as a close height over bore (HOB) as possible, then consider this ACOG. You can buy a MUCH cheaper alternative if you install a picatinny rail on top of the carry handle, and then mount an optic on top of the rail, which may significantly increase the HOB ratio, depending on the size of that optic. The higher the optic mounting, the more the bullet's trajectory deviates from a straight line at different distances. That’s why I bought my particular ACOG. CAVEAT: While the ACOG has a battle tested lineage that spans decades, and is an exemplary optic, it may cost as much or more than your AR-15. But if you can afford it, I highly recommend the purchase. This is my second one. Admittedly, the tritium reticle may begin to fade after 10 years or more, but for daylight shooting, that is not an issue. I highly recommend this optic that installs easily into the channel on top of the AR 15‘s A2 carry handle.
Pros:
  • Best in class
Cons:
  • Expensive

ACOG 4x32 Triangle Reticle Scope

by Ejk, from CA, United States Written on October 12, 2021
Craftsmanship is excellent, sight is bright, comes packed in a nice case, with all the proper paperwork. Only downside is sight picture seems small. Shipping was not really a problem and item came intact with no damage.

Excellent optic

by SgtSandman, Verified Owner from MA, United States Written on July 4, 2017
I'll make this short and sweet: the glass is very clear with no distortion at any edge, the field of view is large, the scope isn't too heavy but it doesn't feel cheap either, the reticle and drop subtensions/stadia are crisp, clear, and well illuminated in all light, the triangle combines the best of quick aiming with a larger "dot-like" shape while using the triangle tip for precision when needed, and the thing is practically bomb-proof with Trijicon CS backing you up if you need them. One thing: eye relief is limited, but if used on an AR, having your nose up at the charging handle puts it in the perfect spot and is my preferred head placement anyway. Summed up: I love this optic like I've never loved an optic before.
Pros:
  • clear glass
  • rugged
  • wide FOV
  • not too heavy
  • illuminated
  • Accurate BDC
Cons:
  • Limited eye relief
Best Used for:
  • AR 15
  • Duty rifle
  • mid range precision
  • AR hunting
