USTradition's Review of Trijicon ACOG Compact 1.5X16S Rifle Scope with ACSS Reticle

Well it’s everything you would expect from a Trijicon acog except in 1.5 power. It’s very light weight even with the QD mount (American Defence Mfg) in this case. The only negative is if you are under a shaded area looking out into a bright field background the reticle is at its least profound, still usable but not as quick acquisition depending on the color and brightness of background. Also, I went with the green color, I’ve compaired both red and green side by side and for me green is more profound and quick to pick up in “most lighting/backgrounds” however there are instances where red was the clearer and easier to see over the green, for myself green is the color that worked the best 70%+ of the time. What ever color you choose will excel over the other colors in certain backgrounds it’s just the nature of the beast all colors work better then the others in a particular situation so depending on your eyes and background you are most likely to use it in will determine what’s best for you. Hope this helps someone who also is unsure of what color to choose. ACSS reticle is smaller then I expected and wish it was bigger but after playing with it for a few days it something you can get use to and definitely make use of the BDC and rage estimation. Just have to practice and get use to it. Best reticle option currently available, better for further shooting then the circle dot. Side note- the BDC dots are easier to distinguish and pick up in green then in red (for myself) also confirmed that with Trijicon to be sure there wasn’t anything wrong with the red one they said for this optic you will see the bdc dots more clearer in green. Again it’s personal preference that might work differently for you.
Pros:
  • very durable
  • Never needs batteries
  • Very light weight
Cons:
  • No alternative means of illumination in those funky lighting situations
Best Used for:
  • Home and personal defense
  • close to medium range target engagement
