Most Helpful Positive Review The right tool for the right job
This tool is needed to put Trijicon stake on sights on 1911 slides correctly. If you stake these night sights the traditional way you will eventually break the vial and poof no night sight. I use this in my shop as a professional gunsmith and it saves time and possible money lost by breaking vial in night sights. It has meet all of my expectation in being able to turn out quality jobs on both Rock Islands and Colts including Gold Cup models. Pros: Every thing needed to do the task correctly Cons: Cost

Good design poor workmanship and quality

by DonG, from TX, United States Written on September 1, 2016
You would think something this expensive built for installing Trijicon sights would be better made. The keyway cut in the sight rest that holds the sight in place was .031" to narrow and had to have .0155" machined off each side for it to fit properly. It was also to shallow and had to increase depth. The shear punch (.125" grove) shattered like glass when driving it into the fixture. This thing is a total waste of money for what it was designed for.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • Junk
Best Used for:
  • paper weight

Expensive, but very useful

by George Skrivanek, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on April 24, 2016
The price is a little daunting but this device really works. I installed my first front sight with this on me Series 70 Colt and it went in without a hitch.
It works very well, staking the front sight is now easier and less risky for tritium sights
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Works Well...

by Steve Yuszka, from OH, United States Written on November 18, 2014
Well made. Have not used it on all types of sights yet, but worked fine with limited application: Trijicon, Meprolite, etc. Good tool to have, saves time. The tolerance and craftmanship is top rate. I had very little burr clean up after using this tool.
Pros:
  • Does the job well
Cons:
  • A bit pricey
