Rugged high quality thermal imaging - Trijicon Electro Optics REAP-IR Type 3 35mm Thermal Rifle Scope 640x480 60 Hz

I have worked in infrared imaging for over fifty years and know state of the art when I see it. This is it. 640x480 focal plane is a great compromise between sensitivity (more is not better) and resolution (more is better). The Vanadium Oxide detector material in this scope is stable at ambient temperatures (amorphous Silicon isn't and will have greater thermal drift). I consider this as more of an instrument than simply a sight. Works great in daylight, low light or no light at all. Get the filter if you use it in bight daylight. Very solid construction with coresponding weight and a good reputation from military use. You could go cheaper but will likely find poorer performance and more fragile. Buy once, cry once and enjoy its durability and performance.
